Hobby Update 1/16/24

This week I was able to make some decent progress, but was busy with life stuff. I got my airbrush to work much better and used it multiple times to prime and base color some minis, which was super convenient and I really enjoyed it. Later this week I will be releasing a brief guide to starting out with the AWI period.

What have I been Painting?

I painted quite a few arquebusier cavalry units in 6mm for the Thirty Years War this week, and there’s more on the way. You can never have enough cavalry regiments, so I also painted some cuirassiers shown below. Not painting, but hobby related, I did some work designing and revising scenarios for my Thirty Years War rules that I am working on. Hoping to use the airbrush some more this week, and I have my eyes on some 28mm Scots . . .

What have I been Playing?

Well I’m proud to say after all the research and work, I got Guilford Courthouse on the table. The game was a complete blast, and I was really happy with the way everything looked. The rules we used, Live Free or Die worked really well and created some really dramatic moments. It was an American strategic victory as it was historically, but tactically it went much better for the Americans than it did historically. The militia held much firmer than their real life counterparts who broke in minutes. I’m hoping to get Camden on the table next week, I’m hoping to get good use out of this collection.
