Hobby Update 1/2/24

Happy New Year!! I hope all of you had an awesome 2023, and I hope you will subscribe and follow along with the blog in 2024. I got an Airbrush for Christmas that will be hooked up soon, so stay tuned on that. It is my first airbrush and I’m very excited to learn to paint with a new tool. I’m hoping to get up to Historicon for the first time this year; I’ve always wanted to go but never had the opportunity. Enough rambling, here’s what I’ve been working on.

What have I been painting?

I have finished up a few more tercios for my 6mm Thirty Years War project. I am really pleased with the way these guys are looking. I love the mass effect of the pikes in 6mm and wouldn’t want to do it any other way. I’ve got a few more of these to finish up to be able to play White Mountain, which is my first goal.

What have I been playing?

I played a test game of the Thirty Years War rules I’m writing, but it was played with labeled bases and no terrain, so I didn’t take any pictures. It went well, the tweaks made after the last playthrough made a big difference. What you see below is a couple odds and ends I’ve been messing with. I want a sparsly wooded look to my Guilford Courthouse table and I’ve been working on a two-sided map, one desert and the other side fields.
