Hobby Update 10/31/23

I took a bit of a break from my main project to work on a few other things, and got some good games in. Watch out for an article on what I look for in a game later this week.

What have I been painting?

At the beginning of the week I finished up some Virginia militia for Guilford Courthouse, and some caulk roads using this method. https://www.6mmacw.com/roads-and-rivers.html

After that I painted up a whole slew of 6mm WW2 American vehicles.

And I’m not quite done with the accompanying infantry. All of these are for a Battle of the Bulge scenario I’m hoping to run in December.

What have I been playing?

I played a great game of Age of Hannibal this week. We played a Gallic wars game, and I played as the Roman Auxilia and got most of my units destroyed. It is of no consequence to the empire as we still won the battle. According to Ceaser, we prevailed against a Gallic force 8 times the size of our own!! I really enjoy Age of Hannibal and will probably do a rule review in the future.

I also played another playtest of the in development rules Schwerpunkt. They are for operational level games in the 20th century, with each player controlling a corp and 1 stand representing a battalion. We played the Lorraine scenario, it was a fun game and we got a few balancing changes figured out. Schwerpunkt is a ton of fun and is in the final phases of playtesting, please let the author know if you are interested in testing at [email protected] as he is looking for more groups to play them.
