Hobby Update 3/13/24

Well since the last update, my order of 28mm Scots for SAGA from Gripping Beast finally arrived. That means that it is time to buy more miniatures! I have made a lot of progress on the rules writing front, taking care of a lot of formatting issues. You may or may not have noticed the new podcast page, because I have not been actively promoting it until the show is available on more listening platforms and we have a release schedule, but feel free to check out the first episode at https://brushesbayonets.podbean.com/e/episode-1-what-do-we-love-about-wargaming/.

What have I been Painting?

As mentioned above my 28mm Dark Age Scots came in. They were a combination of plastics and metal, about 40 figures in all. After building the plastic minis I primed them and did a “zenithal highlight” with my airbrush that I will explain when a I do a tutorial on these guys soon.

As you can see I’ve got some armored warriors, unarmored, archers, and a leader done so far, getting close . . .

What have I been Playing?

I ran a fun 1v1 game of Live Free or Die, and it was the first time I’ve actually played the game in years. We played the Eutaw Springs scenario with the Americans on the attack, it was a blast. After battering down the British line and winning a key combat, I eventually broke down the British defense.

SAGA night at the club, we had a large turnout with almost a dozen players. I had a good time running a small 4 point army of Vikings, but am very eager to replace them with Scots for next month.
