Hobby Update 3/27/24

I have made some very good progress just grinding out my main project in the last two weeks. I had a quite a bit of time to paint, but 6mm is getting a stale, so expect some larger scales in the next hobby update. As always I hope you enjoy!

What Have I been Painting?

I finally got around to one of my favorite units in the Thirty Years War, the Swedish colored regiments. I really like the bright blue and yellow color scheme, and they came together fairly quickly.

I have finished 4 bases of German Mercenaries, and 4 more bases of generic militia, and there are 4 more bases of militia on the way. I don’t want to see another Militia unit on my painting bench for a while.

What Have I been Playing?

I finally brought my Thirty Years War rules up to my club. We played the Battle of White Mountain, Bohemians vs. Imperials. The Bohemians performed better than historically but were still ultimately defeated. Overall the rules were a hit, they played very well and I got some great feedback. If you’d like to playtest the rules, just message me and I’d be happy to provide you with a copy.

This week I also played a War of Spanish Succession game. A company of Imperial Infantry supported by artillery raided a village defended by the french somewhere on the Upper Rhine in 1702. It was a fun game that we played with some homebrew rules a buddy of mine is working on.
